Iomedae Save Me …… 3

I’m beginning to think that this infernal island is getting to some of my compatriots. We captured a monkey that attempted to steal food from the survivor camp. Szraiel tied it to a tree under the delusion that he would train it to be his pet. This seemed like a reasonable idea, but when he and Dorian began discussing the best method to shave the monkey and if spanking the monkey was an appropriate training technique, I knew that something is seriously unbalanced in their minds. Now I am certainly no follower of Gozreh and I am more than happy for animals to be used as food and tools, but shaving and spanking monkeys in front of the camp is just not right. I thought that I was going to have to rescue the poor creature, but I think they realized how upset they the rest of the camp were getting and how utterly absurd they sounded and the hairy little critter was saved from  his spanking for the time being.

Our return to camp was marked with another bout of diseases affecting various party members, this time Ron and Dorian copped it pretty horrifically. It took nearly a week for all of our members to recover to full strength. I felt myself nearly succumbing myself, but I through the divine power of Iomedae I was able to fight the illnesses off.

We finally set off, Ron and I were keen to press onto the south straightaway and take the fight directly to the heart of the enemy, but we were out voted and instead we went to clear the western and northern areas of the island.

We followed the northern coastline and on the beach we noticed a crab the size of a house. This was somewhat concerning, but caution was thrown to the wind and then one of Roy’s bombs. Turned out the crab was a house. It was occupied by a tengu, crow person called Pezock, that had been marooned in an earlier wreck. The island had driven mad, but as he no doubt tasted like chicken and not human, he had not been eaten by the cannibals and was left to his own devices. He had no love for the canibals as they had killed some of his friends and he agreed to help us once we were ready commence our clearance of the cannibal menace.

Further to the north we crossed a tidal causeway onto a small island, south of the fungal island. During the night we were again assailed by more of those damnable shocker lizards. Fortunately we have learnt much since our first encounter and we were able to dispatch them with only a small interruption to our sleep.
Access to the fungal island was limited due to another causeway that was only accessible at low tide. After waiting on for the tide to abate the progress on the island was reasonable though somewhat alien, all flora on this island consisted of fungi. It looked very out of place considering the rest of the tropical “paradise” that constituted the rest of the island. Possibly more out of place was the moss and fungus covered shipwreck on the western edge of the island.
The wreck was accessible by vines, which we found to be useful not only to us, but also the vegepygmy inhabitants. Our attempts to negotiate were unsuccessful and we were forced to destroy them.  The wreck itself was the Nightvoice and had little of interest.

Now that we have cleared the fungus island we can finally turn our attention to the cannibal threat. Iomadae have mercy on them.

And Gozreh have mercy on the monkeys.
