May Iomadae
have mercy on them all. We have finally broken the cannibal threat on this
island. We sent 23 souls to Iomedae this evening, most of the tribe. They
fought like possessed animals and even after many of their number had fallen
they fought to the death.
The tribe
surrounded our camp in the evening, ambushing our ambush and fell upon us
hoping to subdue us for their dinner. Even though we were outnumbered nearly
five to one, the party did not wither and took the fight to the enemy.
Although I feel
a twinge of pity for some of their group as they have been indoctrinated and
coerced into their current state, I feel none for their leader. He truly was a
vile and wretched creature. A red-haired and wild-eyed man I bought him to
justice with prejudice fueled by the righteous fury Iomedae herself. His attacks
against me were ineffective while mine struck true and more resounding than
ever before.
The
cannibal’s had a pet witch all of their own, but this island is only big enough
for one hideous hag, our hideous hag. Ron, in a feral drug induced-rage all of
his own, chased her along the cliff tops and got a mouthful of both witch and cannibal,
neither of which were particularly appetizing, but the nonetheless effective
and he felled the horrible crone.
Their
leaders gone, the remaining cannibals fought on compressing into huddle at the very
edge of the cliff, but their casualties mounted and we were fighting atop sea
of dead atop the cliff atop a sea of water. Ron seemed awfully happy with the
carnage. After a titanic battle, the last cannibal was ripped apart by Ron and
we paused for a moment to catch our breaths and rescue Szraiel from beneath a
pile of bodies.
My
colleagues searched through the bodies looking for anything of value and then proceeded
to chase down the enemy witches monkey. I was concerned Szraiel and Dorian were
looking for another monkey to spank as their first monkey is back at the camp with
the Jenivere survivors and it has potentially been at least five days since
they were able to spank their shaved monkey. I can’t believe they can’t go five days
without playing with a monkey, it really is quite sad. Szraiel assured me that
the monkey was not for themselves, but it was for Helga.
“Please
Helga, you are not a monkey beater to are you?” I thought. “A monkey eater I would
have suspected, but not this!”
It turns
out she was not going to eat the monkey or
abuse it, instead she was able to learn spells from it. A witch thing, learning
from a monkey is just not right.
Whilst all
the treasure was being collected and monkeying around was going on, I took time
to perform funeral rites on the destroyed enemy. Evil as they were, I pray that
Iomadae can bring them the peace in death they could not attain in life.
We will
need to report our victory to our Dryad ally. The defeat of the cannibals means
we have vanquished two of the three evils that plague this island. I say
second, the first great evil was a fiendish fungal abomination that we found on
the fungal island to the north.
We thought
that with the slaying of the vegepygmies on the Nightvoice was the end of the fungal
problem. We were very wrong. Further exploration of this disgusting island revealed
a rocky feature jutting from the lagoon just off the eastern shore of this
small island. It too was connected by the same vines as was the Nightvoice and
so we investigated.
The vines
took us to the top of this formation and just below the top was a ledge leading
to a cave. The cave was home to a fungal
abomination that glowed with an unholy black energy when it lashed out at me.
It stuck Szraiel and immediately sickened him. It looked as if nearly a third
of his life was drained in one foul strike. The blessings of Iomedae protected me
from whatever wretched energy powered it and I was able to resist its evil
contagion. The battle was joined in earnest and we quickly sent the cursed
tinea-beast back to the Abyss from whence it came. Finally the fungal isle had
truly been cleansed.
The remaining
evil is the flying beast that Ron has seen on a couple of watches. The Dryad
has confirmed that there exists an unnatural winged monster that originates
from one of the few high features on the island to the South. She says that it
is not part of the natural order, it preys on creatures for amusement, toying
with them and draining their blood.
Unfortunately with the cannibal infestation she has been unable to learn
more.
Once we
have investigated the cannibal camp and cleared anymore evil from there, I will
turn my attention to this loathsome beast and bring the fury of Iomedae upon
it.
Iomedae
give me the strength and wisdom to distract my fellow party members long enough
from playing with monkeys to cleanse this island of the
remaining unrighteousness.
