After some argument we managed to stick to the plan. We spent two days crafting and went to meet
the tribal chief. At last I have my gloves that let be explode with (curiously
selective) arcane energy.
The longer I live the more I think that magic has some
sentience or proto-sentience. Maybe it’s not really us using it but it using
us. I once read in the most ancient of chronicles that those unnameable and
unknowable beings that are all and so in a sense created everything were
entrapped. Magic is their essence and every time we use it they draw on us and
strengthen until they can again be boundless and we shall become their
playthings and puppets if we are unlucky enough to survive the turmoil. I wish
I knew better but exploding things is too much funzies.
The chief gave us a rundown of race types, numbers, leaders
and what he knew of the spires. Quite childishly ron and aj kept interrupting..
it was just delaying the others ascendance, our progress and worse of all was
almost like they were not really there. Interrupting someone 10+ times mid
sentence as their giving us information I have never seen before in life.
Ironically they thought it was effecting me, I actually hunger for pointless
sillyness and purposefully compromising others – happy, happy times. Alas I
made the effort to keep them on track knowing they would be most affected
should we loose the information, access to markets, comfort this alliance
brings and the potential to root, lord over or subjugate irrelevant ever humans.
You really cannot trust humans, even noticing the way they
traded and spent in the markets when we sold allot of stuff we had looted from
our murder victims. They really are a pack of communists. All their professionals
earn the same. Be it profession baker, weaver, excrement dryer (for fuel), book
keeper or lawyer they all earn the same for a days work. It sickens my caste
oriented sensibilities!
We then visited the radiant muse. Again the gaggle of
giggling children made effort to hinder their own advancement. I thought aj was
commanding and hard edged looking down on natives and ron was warborn and harsh
to all - but really their just little boys making fart jokes for their own
giggles. The radiant muse told us about the other spires/spears and sent us on
a quest after the other fools didn’t manage to impress her like I had even with
dorians suggested use of helgas hexing.
We went of trekking and found the vampire easily enough. It
was sitting on a throne in a room by itself. No traps, no ploys, no nothing. It
ended poorly for the creature. Its one surprising trick was possessing a frog
on its death. We followed this frog and desecrated its destination. My 40
knowlege check was not enough to identify the trick so we kept the frog. On
return the radiant muse was more knowledgeable, I almost felt compelled to
worship her so divine must have been her knowledge to surpass mine. She
squished the frog and ended the creatures reign.
The radiant muse filled us in on the details the chieftain
was not aware and we went off to slay some monkeys. We attacked their fortress,
sneaking up the side. A gaggle of monkeys attacked with some giant apes. We
made short work of them with area damage and spell. We then pushed forward and
were accosted by a second wave of monkeys and their leader a great 4 armed ape.
They were soon subdued with little real danger and we stood triumphant upon the
monky mens citadel. Things became quiet as I looked around for a stick to
sharpen with my kukri. I intended to fly its head as a new flag as why not
alert the other areas. I was feelin like catchin the crazies!
