Session 20 Summary

The group march for another 8 days or so and finally come to their destination, the ruined city of Tazion.  There is a decaying wall around the place, which is about 1750' in diameter and almost round.

The group circumnavigate the place, looking for evidence of the other groups from Eleder and see that there are several places where the wall has collapsed sufficiently to allow access, and there is no evidence that any of the other groups have arrived, although there is clear evidence that the ruin is inhabited by a group of charau-ka, small monkey like humanoids.

Caution thus satisfied, the frontal assault began, with the group advancing through a gap in the wall near the northernmost point of the wall, where a trap was spotted and disarmed, and a plant covered ziggurat entered.


3 giant wasps and a wasp queen were dispatched, as were four tiny statues and a couple of leech swarms.  The death of the statues caused something a little odd to happen.

Strange shapes, like spirits (the ghossty kind, not the drinky kind) swirl around the room after the death of each statue, and when they pass through people's heads, memories appear there.  Everyone starts to remember a room, roughly circular and around 25 feet in diameter, with a high, domed ceiling, 3 doorways (2 opposite each other) and a strange, circular grid carved into the floor.  One of the opposite-each-other doorways is partially blocked by a column, while there are three columns in and around the opposite opening.  The third opening is clear.  Each column is intricately carved with strange symbols representing the sun, the moon, the stars and the space between.  Each pillar also has a swiveling section comprising several deep holes bored into 4 inch sections (rings).

The memories continue to show that with a gemstone set in each column, at a certain point sunlight enters the room through the entrance with the three columns, passes through the first column, lighting it up and splitting into three beams, all striking the other columns.  The light from one column then highlights a point on the grid, while the others illuminate the room and support a hazy image that appears fleetingly above the grid, an image of a stretch of jungle.
